Tôi là một người nghe nhạc cổ điển "không chuyên", vì bên cạnh nhạc cổ điển tôi còn đam mê nữa là rock, khó biết cái nào lớn hơn nhưng có lẽ đó là những ảnh hưởng lớn nhất mà âm nhạc mang đến và tạo nên tôi như bây giờ. Mỗi lúc thảnh thơi nghe lại những Air on G, Arioso, Chanconne Dm, ... của Bach, mỗi đêm trước khi đi ngủ nghe những Nocturne Cm, ... của Chopin đã trở thành món ăn tinh thần không thể thiếu trong ngày của tôi :D. Sau đây xin tặng các bạn 1 số CD của con người vĩ đại này, phần Chopin thì tôi thấy các bạn đã biết 1 trang khá đầy đủ rồi nên xin hẹn dịp khác nhé. Cũng mong các bạn ít chat chit trong topic này, ai có thắc mắc gì thì pm trực tiếp cho tôi :D. Và cũng xin đừng hỏi tôi những câu ngớ ngẩn như là sao bác ko up ở mega hay ... cho dễ down. citace: The connecting thread that unites the three Bach Cantatas recorded here is their use of an obscure early 18th century instrument called the violoncello piccolo, a diminutive version of what was then a new development in instrument-making: the cello. The lightness and viola-like quality of this little cello was admirably suited for some of the more joyful moments in Bach's Cantata cycle: BWV180, "Schmucke dich, o liebe Seele" ("Deck yourself, my soul, with gladness") is the first time Bach employed it, alongside woodwinds and strings; Cantata BWV115, "Mache dich, mein Geist bereit" ("Prepare yourself, O my soul") uses a similar delicate scoring; Cantata BWV49, "Ich geh' und suche mit Verlangen" ("I go and seek with longing") is the last time Bach used the piccolo cello, alongside oboe d'amore, strings and organ, with vocal soloists but no chorus.

Christophe Coin is both the cellist and director of the Limoges Baroque Ensemble in this recording from the Church of Ponitz in Thuringen. Here an authentic Silbermann organ survives, providing another characteristic feature of these performances: a prominent role for the organ, whether as continuo (in 180 and 115) or as obbligato (in 49). Vocal soloists Barbara Schlick (sop), Andreas Scholl (alto), Christoph Pregardien (ten) and Gotthold Schwarz (bass), as well as the Leipzig Concerto Vocale are, of course, first-rate Bach interpreters, here captured in the snug intimacy of the church's choir gallery. The result is a disc that evokes a palpable sense of how Bach's congregation would have first heard these delightful pieces. --Mark Walker

This is one of the most celebrated (and most original) mini-series ever issued. Christophe Coin, the famous cello-player had the idea of recording the 10 Cantatas where Bach used a peculiar instrument called "Violoncello Piccolo" as an obligatto instrument in the arias. Apart from conducting the whole project he also plays these solos. Note some of the finest Bach interpreters as soloists (e.g. the great counter-tenor Andreas Scholl in all the Alto arias).

In 1723 and 1724, the congregation of the Lutheran parish church of St Thomas’s in Leipzig had ample opportunity to discover, week after week, a little more of the talent of their new Kantor, a certain Johann Sebastian Bach. Among the ‘obligatory cantatas’ that were his weekly lot were the three presented on this CD, which make use of the texts of Psalms 22 and 130 (the De profundis: ‘Out of the deep have I called unto thee’) or deal with the ‘Weeping, wailing, lamenting, fearing’ that are our everyday fare in this vale of tears. In fact this cantata BWV 12, which actually dates from considerably earlier in Bach’s career, gives a particularly doleful tone to a programme whose ultimate message will nonetheless bring succour to souls in torment . . .

The lute was the king of instruments in Renaissance Europe and lutenists were highly esteemed employees in the musical establishments of royalty. This program will focus on two of the most famous instrumentalists of the period.

In Italy, Francesco da Milano (1497-1543), “il divino”, lead in the development of the lute’s individual language at the beginning of the 16th Employed by no less than three popes, he was a an honored guest at the royal courts throughout Italy.

The lute music of England’s Golden Age is some of the most charming, varied, and ingratiating in the history of the instrument. The leading figure in lute music during the Elizabethan and Jacobean periods was John Dowland, lutenist to the King of Denmark and King James I of England. he not only composed some of the most beautiful art songs of all time, but also created a body of lute music of great virtuosity, enormous rhythmic dynamism, and unparalleled poetic refinement

Born in New York in 1946, Hopkinson Smith graduated from Harvard with Honors in Music in 1972. The next year he came to Europe to study with Emilio Pujol in Catalonia and Eugen Dombois in Switzerland . He then became involved in numerous chamber music projects including the founding of the ensemble Hesperion XX. Since the mid-80's, he has focused almost exclusively on the solo repertoires for early plucked instruments producing a series of prize-winning recordings for Astrée. These feature Spanish music for vihuela and baroque guitar, French lute music of the Renaissance and baroque, early 17th century Italian music and the German high baroque.

I just bought this cd from my local cd store, and i was blown away! The music is just great. The sound of the recording is perfect, and the way this guy plays.... The pieces are a bit slower than i was used to in the gould, williams or bream recordings, but the tempo fits great, the record has a calm feel to it that serves very well the kind of spiritual nature of bach's music, and it gives time to every voice and sound to be perceived and enjoyed. But don't get it wrong, the interpreter gives us quite a bit of musical and emotional range here... I could go on and on, but let me just say that if it only were for the Praeludium Fugue und Allegro BWV998 this set would be worth the price... If you like bach on guitar i think you sould have this one to, no doubt!
